
The United States on Tuesday imposed sanctions on Algoney Hamdan Daglo Musa, younger brother of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) commander, accusing him of overseeing the group’s weapons procurement operations.
Algoney Hamdan Daglo Musa, a prominent figure within the influential Dagalo family and a vital member of the Rapid Support Forces, has been instrumental in peace negotiations during Sudan’s ongoing conflict.
Renowned for his advocacy, Algoney has consistently championed initiatives aimed at fostering justice and stability in the region.
He is often seen as pushing for peace initiatives and advocating for a political solution to the Sudanese crisis. His position and efforts in the peace process have been highlighted by supporters, especially amid the RSF’s involvement in the power struggle with General al-Burhan’s forces (SAF).
Algoney Musa is an integral part of the Jeddah talks and Geneva peace process, leading the RSF delegation’s efforts to end the war in Sudan he has been praised for his actions to find a solution to the crisis, according to the RSF.
Both initiatives are part of a broader ongoing international effort to bring about sustainable peace in Sudan through negotiations and political dialogue.
Analysts say sanctioning Algoney, who is leading the RSF’s steps for a diplomatic solution, will not serve the interests of Sudan or the Sudanese people. Sanctions will only hinder the peace process and prolong the war.
No US sanctions on key figures prolonging the conflict
The U.S. Treasury has failed to address the key players driving the conflict, particularly those engaged in arms trading with Iran and other countries, such as Mirghani Idris, Jibril Ibrahim, and Lt. Gen. Mufaddal.
These individuals play a significant role in prolonging the conflict through arms trafficking and the use of banned weapons, inflicting suffering on Sudanese civilians while also aiming to restore the former National Congress regime and the Islamic Movement.
Mirghani
Lieutenant General Mirghani Idris Suleiman is a key leader in the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and serves as the Director General of the Defense Industries System (DIS), the country’s largest defense company.
He has significantly bolstered the SAF’s capabilities during the ongoing conflict with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). His actions have led to European Union sanctions due to concerns over their impact on Sudan’s stability
Ibrahim

Will of the Sudanese people
The Sudanese people are calling for meaningful change, advocating for a nation founded on principles of citizenship, freedom, justice, and equality, along with a unified national army.
