Egypt calls for end to fighting in Gaza, Lebanon

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi urged an immediate cease-fire in Gaza and Lebanon on Saturday.

He called for stronger efforts to stop hostilities and arrange the exchange of hostages in Gaza.

His comments came during a meeting with a US congressional delegation led by Congressman Tom Cole.

Al-Sisi emphasized the urgency of halting the conflict to prevent further escalation.

He also stressed that establishing an independent Palestinian state is key to long-term peace.

Despite months of indirect talks, Egypt’s mediation efforts have not secured a truce as Israel continues its military operations.

Cross-border violence with Hezbollah in Lebanon persists, and recent Israeli strikes have killed key Hezbollah leaders.

The conflict has caused heavy casualties and mass displacement across the region.
