General al-Burhan’s SAF targets humanitarian aid site in Khartoum: RSF

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) accused General al-Burhan’s forces (SAF) of striking a humanitarian aid distribution center in the “Jabal al-Hizam” area of Khartoum, marking the latest escalation in the conflict.

The alleged SAF attack follows an airstrike days earlier on a World Food Programme (WFP) field office in Yabus, Blue Nile State, which reportedly killed three staff members, including the office director.

Last Thursday, the first UN humanitarian aid convoy reached RSF-controlled areas in Khartoum. The shipment included 26 trucks loaded with food supplies from the WFP. The RSF condemned the SAF’s airstrikes targeting the WFP facilities and the aid distribution center in South Khartoum, labeling the actions a violation of international humanitarian law.

“This deliberate targeting of international humanitarian organizations and their staff constitutes a blatant breach of international law,” the RSF said in a statement. “Such acts aim to obstruct the delivery of aid to those in need.”

The RSF further called on international human rights organizations to address the SAF’s repeated airstrikes on civilian areas across the country, which they claim have resulted in thousands of deaths, the destruction of homes, and the decimation of infrastructure, including displacement shelters.

“These crimes, directed by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, are not new,” the statement added. “The Sudanese army has a history of similar atrocities in South Kordofan, Blue Nile, and Darfur, for which its leaders are wanted by international courts.”

Neither the Sudanese army nor WFP officials have commented on the RSF’s allegations at this time.
