Al-Basha Tibeaq, senior adviser to the commander of Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF), insisted on Thursday that El-Fasher is not encircled and that civilians can leave the North Darfur capital via routes secured by the RSF and its allies in the Sudan Founding Alliance.
In a post on Facebook, Tibeaq accused “the Port Sudan war coalition, National Congress Party (NCP) media cells, the Islamic Movement and their allied armed groups” of spreading false siege claims to win international sympathy and deflect blame for the humanitarian crisis.
“All avenues remain open,” he wrote, adding that any civilian or combatant who manages to break free of positions held by the Sudanese Armed Forces, mercenary armed movements and the Al-Baraa militias would be received by alliance fighters, provided transport and escorted to safer areas.
Tibeaq said RSF units were working alongside alliance forces to establish “secure humanitarian corridors” and deliver aid to those wishing to leave the city, which has been at the centre of fierce fighting in recent weeks.
General al-Burhan’s army (SAF) has repeatedly alleged that RSF positions around El-Fasher amount to a blockade, cutting off food and medical supplies—an accusation Tibeaq dismissed as “manufactured propaganda.” Independent verification of conditions inside the city remains difficult amid disrupted communications and continuing clashes.
