Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, who leads the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and chairs the presidential council of the Sudan Founding Alliance (known as TASIS), held a phone call on Saturday with Britain’s special representative for Sudan, Richard Crowder, his office said. Dagalo praised UK humanitarian support and briefed Crowder on political moves to form a “Government of Peace” aimed at ending the war and protecting civilians, according to the readout.
Crowder, appointed in 2024, has engaged both sides in the conflict; in April he met SAF chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan in Port Sudan as London sought to revive talks and ease the humanitarian crisis.
TASIS is the RSF-aligned “Sudan Founding Alliance,” a coalition of armed and political groups that signed a charter in February to set up a civilian administration it calls a “Government of Peace and Unity.” The alliance later announced a rival government with Dagalo as council chief.
Britain has pushed diplomatic efforts on Sudan this year, including co-hosting meetings in London to back a ceasefire and humanitarian access.
