RSF says it took full control of Sudan’s Darfur

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has said that the fighting force took the full control over the Darfur region on Monday, with spokesman Al-Fateh Qarashi promising to reclaim Sudan from the Islamist-aligned SAF. In an interview, Qureshi said the RSF is determined to return to Khartoum and Al Jazirah State, signalling a continued push against the army.

He denied any violations against civilians by RSF troops, saying that accusations of attacks were false or committed by individuals impersonating RSF personnel. “All responsible for any violations will be held accountable,” Qureshi said, emphasising that the RSF operates professionally and within legal bounds.

The spokesman accused the General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s army (SAF) of committing widespread abuses in Darfur and Kordofan, holding it fully responsible for prolonging the conflict. Qureshi addressed reports concerning journalist Muammar Ibrahim, stating he was unaware of any arrest but confirming the journalist would be returned safely if detained.

He also noted the RSF has no information regarding the alleged capture of Major General Mohamed Ahmed Khader, commander of the 6th Infantry Division. The statements come amid intensifying clashes between Burhan’s army and the RSF, as both sides vie for control of key regions and the capital.
