Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty said Egypt is working to mediate a ceasefire in Sudan and secure a humanitarian truce to deliver aid. He met with Mohi El-Din Salem, foreign minister backed by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, to discuss efforts to end the conflict.
Both met after rival Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo-led Rapid Support Forces captured key town of el Fasher.
Abdel-Aty reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, stressing that Sudan’s stability is vital for regional security. He urged international cooperation to ensure aid reaches civilians and called for dialogue to replace confrontation.
