RSF denies reports of 400 patient deaths in El-Fasher hospital strike

Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) categorically denied claims circulating online that more than 400 patients were killed by shelling inside a hospital in El-Fasher, calling the allegation “fabricated propaganda” by hostile actors.

In a statement on Thursday, the RSF said the reports “have no basis in fact,” asserting that no hospitals were operating in the city after most civilians had departed during recent fighting. The force described the claims as part of an intensified disinformation campaign aimed at swaying public opinion and misleading aid agencies.

The RSF urged media outlets and UN organizations not to “follow narratives” it attributed to information cells aligned with Islamist elements supporting General al-Burhan’s army (SAF), arguing such stories are being used for political gain after battlefield losses in El-Fasher.

Independent verification of the alleged incident, the number of casualties, or the operational status of health facilities in El-Fasher was not immediately available. Humanitarian access and communications in and around the city remain severely constrained.
