TASIS and IGAD discuss roadmap for lasting Sudan peace

The Tasis Alliance has announced that its delegation met with IGAD Special Envoy to Sudan, Lawrence Ku Bandi, to discuss urgent steps toward ending the war and achieving lasting peace.

The meeting, led by Foreign Minister Ammar Amoun, focused on shaping a unified political vision that could address the roots of Sudan’s protracted conflict.

Both sides examined possible frameworks to establish a new phase of national stability and rebuild trust among the country’s fractured political forces.

In an official statement, the Alliance said discussions centred on the need to create coherent political pathways capable of healing Sudan’s divisions and preventing further bloodshed.

The parties reportedly emphasised that ending the war remains the foremost national and regional priority.

The statement added that the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) will continue its consultations with all Sudanese stakeholders.

The regional bloc seeks to advance dialogue, coordinate peace initiatives, and promote a political settlement that reflects the will of the Sudanese people.

This diplomatic encounter unfolds amid intensifying regional and international efforts to secure a ceasefire and revive negotiations between the warring factions.

Observers say the latest engagement underscores growing pressure on Sudanese leaders to embrace an inclusive process that brings together all political and social actors.

As the conflict grinds on, regional mediators stress that a comprehensive peace rooted in justice and representation is the only path to ending Sudan’s cycle of violence and restoring stability to the war-torn nation.
