RSF condemns deadly drone strike on South Darfur town

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has strongly condemned what it described as a massacre carried out by the “terrorist Muslim Brotherhood army” in Sudan, accusing it of using a foreign-made drones to bomb residential neighbourhoods in the town of Kutayla in South Darfur state.

According to the RSF statement, the strike targeted civilians gathered at a social event, killing more than 100 people and injuring dozens of others.

The RSF said the attack constituted a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the rules of engagement, adding that it was clear evidence of the “deliberate targeting of civilians”.

The group called for an independent international investigation to hold those responsible for what it described as a “full-fledged war crime” to account, stressing that the protection of civilians is a legal and moral obligation that cannot be compromised under any pretext.

The RSF pledged to pursue justice for the families of the victims and to work to bring those responsible for such violations to trial, saying this was essential to restoring confidence in justice in a future Sudan built on peace and good governance.

“May mercy and forgiveness be granted to our righteous martyrs,” the statement concluded, signed by the official spokesperson of the Rapid Support Forces.
