US lawmaker accuses Trump of fuelling Sudan crisis through inaction

US Representative Sara Jacobs has accused President Donald Trump’s administration of worsening Sudan’s crisis through aid cuts and a lack of diplomatic engagement.

In comments to US media, Jacobs said Washington failed to challenge foreign powers backing Sudan’s rival forces, allowing the war to drag on.

She urged the administration to halt weapons sales and impose sanctions on arms suppliers, warning that continued external support has fuelled violence and undermined ceasefire efforts.

Jacobs said Sudan is facing one of the world’s gravest humanitarian emergencies, with millions displaced and famine spreading.

She called for urgent international action to hold all foreign backers accountable for abuses and for blocking paths to peace, as global concern mounts over a conflict that has pushed entire regions towards starvation.
