RSF condemns deadly Christmas attack in South Kordofan

Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces condemned an attack on a Christmas gathering in Payam Jald that killed 12 civilians on Friday.

Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces said extremist elements linked to the Muslim Brotherhood carried out a deadly attack on a Christmas gathering in South Kordofan.

The RSF said the bombing struck Christian civilians celebrating Christmas in the Payam Jald area on Friday.

Twelve people were killed and 19 others wounded, most of them women and children, according to preliminary local reports.

In a statement, the RSF described the attack as a deliberate act of terrorism aimed at innocent worshippers.

It accused the Muslim Brotherhood-aligned forces of systematically targeting civilians to spread fear and religious division.

The RSF said the assault violated Sudan’s long-standing tradition of religious diversity and peaceful coexistence.

It warned that extremist violence threatens to further fracture the country’s already fragile social fabric.

The RSF called on the international community to condemn the attack and take firm action against extremist groups.

It said condemning terrorism must go beyond statements and include concrete measures to protect civilians.

The RSF reaffirmed its commitment to fighting extremism and supporting a civil state based on freedom, justice, and equality.
