Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) said on Tuesday they have seized full control of the strategic Al-Taqata’ area in South Kordofan, describing the move as a major advance on the battlefield. In a statement, the RSF said its forces captured the area and its largest military camp after clashes with the “terrorist” Muslim Brotherhood army.
Al-Taqata’ lies between the cities of Kadugli and Dilling, along a route seen as critical for movement and supply in the region. The RSF said the takeover bolsters its forward positions and supports what it called wider strategic goals in South Kordofan.
It added that its forces captured military vehicles, weapons and ammunition, which are being catalogued and assessed. The group said it would continue operations to seize remaining military sites held by opponents. Framing the offensive as a turning point, the RSF said its campaign aims to eliminate terrorist influence and protect civilians.
