SPLM-N captures key towns in Sudan’s Kurmuk

Heavy fighting broke out Tuesday morning in Kurmuk province as the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North launched a major offensive.

The movement announced the successful capture of Deim Mansour, Bashir Nuqu, and Khor al-Budi following intense tactical maneuvers.

According to official SPLM-N statements, their forces seized critical military assets including tanks, combat vehicles, and a drone warehouse.

Local residents reported that the dawn chorus of birds was replaced by the terrifying thunder of heavy artillery and gunfire.

The relentless shelling continued until midday, forcing terrified civilians to seek shelter as the frontline shifted through their local communities.

This escalation underscores the volatile security landscape in Blue Nile State where territorial control remains fluid and highly contested.

As both sides claim the upper hand, the humanitarian situation for residents caught in the crossfire remains increasingly precarious.
