The Sudanese Red Crescent Society announced the launch of food aid distribution in Al-Dabba, targeting displaced families from Darfur and Kordofan, officials have said.
The operation, supported by the World Food Programme, aims to assist around 57,000 people, representing nearly 7,000 families affected by conflict and displacement.
Humanitarian Aid Commissioner Kawthar Jaafar Qili said WFP support has been central to sustaining local emergency and displacement response efforts.
Sudanese Red Crescent local head Izzat Wad Haj said the food baskets include flour, oil, lentils and salt to ease daily hardship.
He said the initiative marks a significant step towards improving food security and reflects coordination between humanitarian agencies and government institutions.
Wad Haj added that both organisations remain committed to expanding assistance to reach the widest possible number of vulnerable families.
