Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of State, welcomed a comprehensive Sudan peace plan unveiled by US advisor Massad Boulos.
He said the initiative rests on five pillars, including an immediate humanitarian truce, civilian protection, sustainable aid access, and a permanent ceasefire.
The plan also envisions a political transition towards civilian rule and a post-war reconstruction programme to heal Sudan’s shattered institutions.
Sheikh Shakhbout praised US President Donald Trump’s leadership, saying it helped prevent Sudan from sliding deeper into extremism and fragmentation.
He noted that decisive engagement has eased the trajectory of a rapidly deteriorating humanitarian crisis caused by the prolonged conflict.
The minister reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to an unconditional humanitarian truce and the swift, safe delivery of aid across Sudan.
He stressed these steps are essential to creating a neutral environment for a civilian-led transition, free from armed factions and extremist influence.
Sheikh Shakhbout said the UAE will continue working with the Quartet, calling an immediate ceasefire the cornerstone of lasting political stability.
He thanked Washington for hosting key meetings on February 3 and announced an additional $500 million UAE humanitarian pledge for Sudan.
