RSF delegation visits last major hospital in besieged El Fasher

Leaders of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) visited El Fasher Teaching Hospital this week, inspecting conditions at one of the city’s last functioning medical facilities.

The delegation praised doctors and health workers for continuing their work despite worsening shortages and relentless pressure.

The visit came as the RSF tightens its hold on El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur and the General Abdel Fattah al Burhan army’s last major stronghold in the region.

Although the RSF described the inspection as a humanitarian effort, residents say the city remains crippled by a prolonged and devastating siege.

International observers warn that the blockade is choking off vital deliveries of medicine and food, deepening the humanitarian crisis.

Fighting across the wider region has further restricted safe routes for civilians seeking aid or escape.

The conflict in Darfur is unfolding as global attention remains focused on other flashpoints, including Israeli military operations in Lebanon and Gaza.

Analysts say these overlapping crises risk overshadowing the scale of suffering in western Sudan.

RSF leaders pledged continued support for the hospital, but prospects for a lasting ceasefire remain uncertain.
