Dagalo meets Saleh Issa to address central Sudan challenges

Rapid Support Forces leader Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, widely known as Hemedti, discussed the situation in Sudan’s central states of Al-Jazirah, Sennar and White Nile during a meeting with Saleh Issa Abdullah, an official in the country’s unrecognised parallel government.

Saleh Issa, who claims to serve as governor of the Central Region, said the talks focused on developments across the three states and the challenges facing local communities.

According to him, the meeting examined humanitarian and social conditions in areas currently controlled by Rapid Support Forces.

The discussions explored ways to strengthen humanitarian assistance programmes and expand support for communities facing prolonged instability and economic hardship.

Saleh Issa emphasised the need for greater community mobilisation to address what he described as worsening civilian crises across central Sudan.

He said local initiatives should be reinforced to help residents cope with rising poverty and declining access to basic services.

The statement added that participants also discussed repairing strained social relations among communities divided by conflict and displacement.

They called for promoting peaceful coexistence among different social groups living in central states affected by ongoing fighting.

The meeting further urged rejection of hate speech, violence and exclusion, advocating a vision based on justice and respect for Sudan’s social diversity.

Saleh Issa said such efforts were necessary to prevent deeper fragmentation in regions already heavily affected by months of conflict.

The remarks come as central Sudan faces growing insecurity and increasing reports of abuses linked to militia presence.

Residents in Al-Jazirah, Sennar and White Nile continue to face displacement, economic decline and mounting pressure on fragile social stability.
