Drone strikes targeted multiple locations across the Sudanese capital on Monday, including Khartoum Airport, a military signals base, and a camp in Omdurman, according to eyewitnesses and local sources.
Three separate sources in Khartoum state reported aerial bombardments hitting the airport and areas surrounding the Signal Corps headquarters, as well as the Al-Murakhiyat camp in Omdurman.
A witness told Darfur24 that a “strategic drone” fired three missiles at Khartoum Airport, with explosions heard across the capital and plumes of smoke rising from the site. Authorities at the airport reportedly evacuated civilians to nearby areas following the attack.
In Bahri, northeast of Khartoum, another eyewitness said a drone targeted the Signal Corps headquarters. Anti-aircraft fire was heard across the city, while smoke was seen rising from the site. No immediate details were available on the extent of the damage.
Meanwhile in Omdurman, witnesses and sources said a drone strike hit Al-Murakhiyat camp, which is affiliated with General al-Burhan’s SAF, with smoke seen billowing from the location.
The latest strikes come three days after a passenger vehicle was targeted in Al-Salha, southwest of Khartoum, killing five civilians, according to a statement from Khartoum state authorities. A separate drone strike also hit Jabal Awliya, south of the capital, last week.
No official statement has yet been issued regarding Monday’s attacks or whether there were civilian casualties.
Sudan has been gripped by a devastating conflict since April 2023 between General al-Burhan’s SAF and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), with drones increasingly used by both sides to strike military and civilian areas.
