Al-Burhan alleges medical abuse against wounded RSF fighters

General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, chief of SAF, has rejected reports by the Sudanese Doctors’ Network, accusing some medical personnel of acting as “instruments of war” in areas controlled by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

In remarks attributed to him, al-Burhan alleged that doctors working in RSF-held parts of Khartoum carried out roles beyond medical care, including espionage, providing coordinates, and identifying individuals for targeting.

He described such actions as “informing” on collaborators, framing them as contributions that helped secure military gains during the conflict.

The SAF chief’s comments come amid ongoing tensions between military authorities and medical groups over the role of healthcare workers in the war, particularly in areas under RSF control.

Medical organisations have previously rejected attempts to link healthcare workers to military activities, warning that such accusations risk further endangering staff operating in conflict zones.

The Sudanese Doctors’ Network has not immediately responded to the latest remarks.
