Sudan has recalled its ambassador to Ethiopia, accusing Addis Ababa of backing a drone strike on key sites in Khartoum.
The attack hit Khartoum International Airport and the Wadi Sayidna base on Monday, with military sources saying drones also struck a civilian area.
General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s army claimed it had “irrefutable evidence” the drones were launched from Ethiopia’s Bahir Dar airport, an allegation Ethiopia strongly denies.
Khartoum warned it reserves the right to respond, while Ethiopia accused Sudan of supporting the Tigray People’s Liberation Front and rejected the claims as baseless.
The incident comes amid escalating drone warfare in Sudan’s civil war, now in its fourth year, which has killed tens of thousands and displaced millions.
