Massad Boulos, senior adviser to US President Donald Trump on Arab and African affairs, said Sudan’s conflict cannot be solved militarily and called for ending all external support to the warring sides.
He urged an unconditional humanitarian truce to allow aid delivery, stressing that both the General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s army and Rapid Support Forces must agree to a ceasefire backed by the Saudi Arabia–Egypt–US–UAE, the Quartet.
Boulos said civilian protection and safe humanitarian access are essential for any political process.
On the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, he said the US is ready to resume mediation between Egypt and Ethiopia, adding that a diplomatic deal over Nile water sharing remains possible.
On eastern Congo, he said Washington is working with regional partners to support a fragile ceasefire and welcomed a peace deal between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda as a key step toward ending decades of conflict.
