The Presidential Council of the Government of Peace and Unity has condemned the drone attack targeting facilities linked to the UAE’s Barakah Nuclear Power Plant, expressing full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and backing measures taken by Abu Dhabi to safeguard its security and strategic infrastructure.
In a statement issued from Nyala, South Darfur, the Presidential Council said the attack — which reportedly involved three drones targeting an electrical equipment facility located outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant — represented a dangerous escalation with potential implications for regional stability and civilian safety.
The Council described attacks on civilian and critical infrastructure as “unacceptable,” warning that such actions threaten regional security and violate established principles of international law and humanitarian norms that require civilian facilities to remain protected and neutral during conflicts.
“The Presidential Council of the Government of Peace and Unity expresses its full solidarity and support for the brotherly United Arab Emirates, its leadership, government and people,” the statement said.
The Council reaffirmed its support for “all legitimate measures” adopted by the UAE to preserve national security, protect its sovereignty and ensure the safety of strategic sites and national infrastructure.
It also urged the international community to intensify efforts aimed at preserving regional stability through dialogue, de-escalation and diplomatic engagement, calling for joint initiatives to address the root causes of crises through peaceful means.
The statement further stressed the need to prioritize “wisdom and reason” in resolving disputes, emphasizing that constructive dialogue and diplomacy remain essential to preventing wider conflict and promoting peace, coexistence and shared development across the region.
The Government of Peace’s Presidential Council said avoiding further escalation was critical to safeguarding stability and opening pathways toward long-term regional cooperation.
