Drone attacks strike SAF positions in Khartoum, Omdurman

A wave of drone attacks struck multiple areas across Khartoum and Omdurman on Saturday night, signalling a sharp escalation in Sudan’s conflict.

Residents reported successive explosions and heavy anti-aircraft fire as military units attempted to intercept incoming drones.

Field sources said several drones were shot down over western Omdurman and parts of eastern Khartoum, though the full extent of the assault remains unclear.

The strikes triggered panic among civilians, while authorities have yet to confirm any casualties or damage to infrastructure.

The group said the attack involved coordinated intelligence, special forces and precision airstrikes.

General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s army has not issued any comment on either the drone attacks or the reported loss of the air defence system.

The latest exchanges highlight the intensifying and rapidly evolving nature of the war, as both sides increasingly rely on advanced drone capabilities in the fight for control of the capital.
