A senior Sudanese public prosecutor has filed an unprecedented administrative appeal before the Supreme Court in Kassala, challenging a decision linked to the country’s top leadership.
The appeal names General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan as the primary respondent and raises serious questions about the authenticity of an official government document.
According to the legal filing, Burhan’s signature on Resolution No. 49/2025 was allegedly forged by unknown individuals. The prosecutor argues that the signature does not match verified examples held by the chairman’s office.
The appeal calls for a full forensic examination of the disputed document, a move that could have significant political and legal implications if the allegations are substantiated.
Journalist Hajar Suleiman described the case as a major test of the credibility of Sudan’s state institutions. She said confirmation of a forgery would point to a serious security breach at the highest levels of government.
The case has drawn growing public attention, placing Sudan’s judiciary under pressure to ensure a transparent investigation into the allegations.
Legal experts say the outcome of the forensic review could have far-reaching consequences, particularly if questions emerge over the validity of decisions linked to the disputed document. Investigators are expected to examine the document in the coming days.
