Hundreds of Burhan loyal soldiers beg for survival in Sudan

Hundreds of soldiers loyal to General Abdel Fattah al Burhan and their families are facing desperate conditions in Darfur, with many now forced to beg in local markets to survive.

The soldiers fled to the Murtal area after the Rapid Support Forces captured El Fasher last October.

When they arrived, the Sudan Liberation Movement — a different group amid civil war — confiscated their weapons and moved them to camps in eastern Jebel Marra.

A severe shortage of humanitarian aid across the region has made life even harder for the stranded families, leaving many without enough food or basic supplies.

Some managed to escape through Chad, but hundreds remain trapped and are struggling to survive.

The suspension of their military salaries has left many without a reliable income, pushing them deeper into poverty.

Once fighting on the front lines, many of these soldiers now depend on limited humanitarian aid and endure the same hardships as thousands of displaced civilians across the region.
