General Abdel Fattah al Burhan-led junta representation in Geneva rejected provisions expanding the mandate of a UN fact-finding committee after the Human Rights Council adopted a resolution on violations in Sudan’s El Obeid.
Junta administration said that it accepted the resolution by consensus but opposed clauses extending the committee’s mandate.
Ambassador Hassan Hamid said the existing mandate establishing the fact-finding committee equated the two sides.
The Human Rights Council adopted the resolution after calling for an urgent investigation into alleged violations in El Obeid.
