A senior figure in Sudan’s Sumoud alliance has denied media reports claiming he travelled to Israel with other members of the coalition in late June, describing the allegations as entirely false.
Babiker Faisal, a leader in both Sumoud and the Federal Gathering, said reports that he joined Khalid Omer Youssef and Taha Osman Ishaq on a visit to Israel contained inaccurate and fabricated information.
In a press statement, Faisal said he planned to take legal action against the journalist behind the report published by Africa Intelligence.
He also addressed reports that Egyptian authorities briefly detained or questioned him on July 8 while he was attempting to leave Cairo, insisting that the incident had no connection to the alleged Israel visit.
Faisal said he had been residing in Cairo since May 25, 2026, and had not left the Egyptian capital since then, which he said directly contradicted claims that he had travelled to Israel.
The original reports alleging that Sumoud figures visited Israel have not been independently verified.
