A landslide near a monastery in Ethiopia’s northern Amhara region has killed at least 14 people, according to state media.
The disaster occurred near the Tsadkane Mariam Monastery in the North Shewa zone, the state-run Amhara Media Corporation reported late on Monday.
Search and recovery teams, supported by excavation equipment, were deployed to retrieve bodies from the debris.
The broadcaster did not specify what caused the landslide, although other media reports said heavy rainfall had triggered the collapse.
Ethiopia is currently experiencing its main rainy season, which typically lasts from June until September and frequently increases the risk of flooding and landslides.
