Sumud’s Al-Barir says dialogues cannot resolve Sudan crisis

Al-Wathiq Al-Barir, Secretary-General of Sudan’s National Umma Party, warned against relying on what he called “failed dialogues” to resolve the country’s conflict.

Speaking at a political seminar in Cairo, the senior leader of the “Sumud” alliance said Sudan’s crisis stems from deep-rooted structural problems affecting the economy, society and governance.

He argued that the country needs a broader approach to prevent further collapse and address the roots of its prolonged instability.

Al-Barir called for an immediate military and security track focused on stopping the fighting and ending the violence.

He said humanitarian relief must proceed rapidly alongside a unified political process aimed at building consensus on Sudan’s future.

Al-Barir warned that without addressing Sudan’s underlying crises, efforts to silence the guns could fail to deliver lasting stability.
