Elite and special forces have deployed across Nyala in South Darfur as authorities step up security measures to protect the city.
Tanks and armoured vehicles are positioned at key intersections, while armed units conduct security checks at newly established checkpoints.
The deployment represents the largest security reinforcement since the Rapid Support Forces established control over the city.
Nyala has gained strategic importance after becoming the operational capital of the newly formed Sudanese Founding Alliance (Tasis).
RSF commanders ordered the operation to strengthen command and control and improve security across the city.
Authorities are also targeting more than 300 combat vehicles operating illegally in Nyala as part of efforts to reduce lawlessness and armed robberies.
Residents have welcomed the security measures, hoping they will help deter criminal gangs that have affected local markets over the past two years.
The authorities have also introduced tighter movement and communications measures as security forces work to address potential threats and maintain stability.
Reports say RSF leader Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo remains in Nyala, overseeing security operations after recently visiting wounded troops at local hospitals.
