A Sudanese group on Friday identified a second suspect seen in video footage of a civilian execution.
The Coordination of Resistance Committees of El Fasher named the deceased suspect as Muhammad Ismail Takizo.
The viral footage showed Takizo alongside the militia operative known as Abu Lulu during killings in the Al Tartwar neighborhood.
The group rejected local claims that the man was Musa Khamsin, a prominent army defector.
Grassroots investigators said Takizo was killed in heavy fighting before the footage was widely circulated and verified.
Violence between rival military factions continues to devastate Darfur, while local monitoring groups document alleged atrocities against civilians.
The resistance committee said Takizo’s death would not affect efforts to hold those responsible for abuses accountable.
The group stressed that alleged perpetrators should remain subject to prosecution regardless of their military status or political affiliations.
