Darfur Governor Minni Arko Minawi returned to Sudan on Tuesday after touring several African and neighboring nations.
The trip aimed to brief regional countries on Sudan’s war and its toll on civilians, Minawi said online.
He described widening humanitarian suffering and urged stronger aid support during meetings with foreign officials abroad.
Facilitating aid delivery and protecting civilians topped the agenda at every stop, he said.
Ending the war dominated talks throughout, with Minawi calling lasting peace the only route out of crisis.
Any political settlement must respect Sudan’s sovereignty and unity while addressing the conflict’s root causes, he said.
Genuine peace, he added, must include accountability for crimes committed against Sudanese civilians during the fighting.
Minawi said his delegation brought home messages of solidarity from allied nations across the continent.
He called for a future Sudan that embraces all its people without exclusion or marginalization.
Everyone must now prioritize Sudan’s interests and work seriously toward peace, stability and reconstruction, he said.
