Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces said its allied Tasis Forces seized two garrison towns in Blue Nile state, deepening the country’s grinding civil war.
The group said Tasis forces captured Bakuri and Sirkum, dealing what it called a decisive blow to the Sudanese Armed Forces.
Blue Nile has become a new flashpoint as RSF-aligned forces push toward the road linking Kurmuk and Damazin, the state capital.
The war between the SAF and the RSF, now in its fourth year, has killed tens of thousands and displaced millions.
Both sides in Sudan’s conflict routinely issue competing battlefield claims that cannot be independently confirmed by outside observers.
