The Port Sudan administration has condemned an attack on Saudi Arabia’s East-West oil pipeline, describing it as a dangerous escalation that threatens regional security and stability.
In a statement carried by the state-run Sudan News Agency (SUNA) on Saturday, the foreign ministry said Sudan “strongly condemns” the targeting of the pipeline and rejects attacks on civilian, vital and economic infrastructure.
The ministry said the assault represented a violation of Saudi sovereignty and posed a serious threat to the kingdom’s security and stability.
It expressed Sudan’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and affirmed the kingdom’s right to protect its territory, sovereignty and strategic assets.
“Such attacks constitute a dangerous and unacceptable escalation that threatens regional peace and security,” the ministry said.
The Port Sudan authorities also called for respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states and urged all parties to refrain from targeting critical infrastructure.
