A large majority of US voters believe President Donald Trump’s administration lacks a clear strategy for ending the war with Iran, according to a new Fox News poll.
The survey found that 71% of voters said the administration did not have a clear plan for bringing the conflict to an end, reflecting growing public unease over the direction of the war.
Sixty percent of respondents also said the US decision to take military action against Iran was wrong, while 47% said they believed the conflict would leave the United States less safe in the long term.
The findings come as other recent surveys also point to widespread dissatisfaction with the war.
A Marquette Law School Poll released this week found that 87% of US adults said Washington had failed to achieve its objectives in the conflict with Iran, while only 13% believed those goals had been met.
The same survey found that 79% believed the war had not been worth its cost, compared with 21% who said it had been worthwhile.
Marquette’s findings also showed a sharp deterioration in American views of Israel. Twenty-nine percent of respondents held a favourable opinion of Israel in September, compared with 59% who viewed it unfavourably. In March 2025, favourable and unfavourable views had both stood at 43%.
The polling suggests public scepticism over the Iran war has remained high as the conflict continues, with voters increasingly questioning its objectives, costs and longer-term consequences for US security.
