A man was fatally shot in Nigeria’s northeastern Bauchi state while a traditional healer was testing a so-called bullet-proof charm, also known as “gun medicine,” on him, according to police spokesman Ahmed Wakil.
The healer, accused of firing the shot with a locally made gun, has been apprehended along with two other suspects, while additional suspects remain at large, as stated by police spokesman Ahmed Wakil.
The test of the effectiveness of the “gun medicine” took place on 43-year-old villager Muhammadu Ali, according to Superintendent Wakil.
Upon receiving news of the shooting, the police swiftly arrived at the scene and transported Mr. Ali to the hospital. However, he was pronounced dead upon arrival, as confirmed by the police spokesman.
He cautioned the public against becoming unwitting participants or “cannon fodder.”
According to Superintendent Wakil, the suspects will face charges in court once the investigations are completed.
Charms believed to possess magical powers are frequently employed in Nigeria, where numerous individuals seek the guidance of traditional healers for a range of concerns.
However, there have been numerous reports of individuals losing their lives after experimenting with alleged bullet-proof charms and medicines.
