Nigerian rapper Oladips passes away at age of 28

Condolences and tributes flood in for beloved Nigerian rapper Oladips, who passed away at the age of 28.

“We are still in shock as we speak,” his management said in an Instagram post.

The cause of death remains uncertain; however, the social media post indicated that he had been “kept his battles within himself” for two years.

Oladips was a gifted musician known for his rap addressing political matters, such as the ENDSars protests advocating against police brutality.

He also delved into the topic of mental health and depression through his musical compositions.

“His story telling rap was top notch” one fan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Big Brother Naija contestant Hermes Iyele conveyed his astonishment regarding the young rapper’s demise, expressing, “May God grant the family the grace to carry this grief.”

The rapper had plans to unveil his upcoming album titled SUPERHERO ÀDÚGBÒ (The Memoir) on Thursday. His latest single was titled Die Young.

Oladips gained prominence after emerging victorious in a rap competition named “The King is Here,” hosted by Nigerian music icon DBanj in 2015.

The passing of Oladips occurs a few months following the death of another prominent musician, Mohbad, in September, sparking nationwide protests.
