11 injured in Senegal runway incident

A Boeing 737-300 chartered by Air Senegal skidded off the runway at Senegal’s Blaise Diagne airport, injuring 11 people and suspending operations.

The incident, which occurred around 0100 GMT, involved a Transair-owned aircraft bound for Mali.

Video footage circulating on social media depicted the plane on grass, its wing covered in fire-suppressing foam.

The cause is under investigation. Emergency protocols were activated for passenger evacuation, and the airport is temporarily closed, with reopening anticipated in the coming hours.
