Algeria arrests nine in Morocco-linked ecstasy bust

Algerian authorities announced Monday the seizure of 1.65 million ecstasy pills and the arrest of nine individuals linked to an international drug trafficking network spanning Morocco and France.

Police stated the massive shipment, valued at nearly $30 million, was concealed in a truck arriving by sea from Marseille.

Described as the largest ecstasy seizure ever in Africa, the operation also yielded several vehicles and substantial cash believed to be criminal proceeds.

While authorities did not disclose the nationalities of those arrested, the suspects face charges including international drug trafficking and money laundering.
