Boniface Mwangi, a prominent Kenyan activist, was abducted from his home on Sunday morning.
The incident occurred hours before Mwangi was scheduled to protest at Nairobi’s Standard Chartered Marathon.
His wife, Njeri Mwangi, reported that six unknown individuals entered their home in Machakos around 7:15 a.m. local time.
According to Njeri, the abductors took her husband without providing any explanation for their actions.
“I have no idea who, why, or where they have taken him,” Njeri stated to the media.
Mwangi’s disappearance has raised alarms among human rights groups and his supporters on social media.
The activist was organizing a demonstration at the marathon, encouraging runners to wear anti-government symbols.
He aimed to protest police brutality in Kenya, a cause he has championed for years.
Mwangi’s abduction follows a troubling trend of activist disappearances in Kenya, often linked to security forces.
Many victims of these abductions have been found dead, sparking widespread concerns about extrajudicial actions by authorities.
Human rights organizations are demanding Mwangi’s immediate release and an investigation into his disappearance.
