British businessman found dead in Kenyan forest

Campbell Scott, a 58-year-old British technology consultant, who was reported missing in Kenya’s capital last week, was found dead Monday in a forest in Makueni County, some 110 kilometers (68 miles) from Nairobi, authorities working with Interpol detectives confirmed.

Scott had traveled to Nairobi on Feb. 16 to attend a tech conference but was last seen the following day leaving his hotel in the city’s Westlands area. His disappearance prompted a widespread search.

His body was discovered in Makongo Forest by local herders concealed within a green sack and showing signs of decomposition. “The circumstances surrounding Mr. Scott’s death are deeply concerning,” said a police spokesperson, “We are committed to a thorough investigation and bringing those responsible to justice.”

Police have arrested two suspects, a taxi driver, and a nightclub waiter, as part of an ongoing investigation. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from the hotel and surrounding areas and are exploring several leads, including the possibility of a robbery gone wrong.

Officials say they are working to establish the exact circumstances of his death, with an autopsy expected. The incident has raised concerns about security in Nairobi, although police have stated that this appears to be an isolated case. The British Embassy in Nairobi has been notified and is providing consular assistance to Mr. Scott’s family.
