A British woman has been abducted in Malawi’s commercial capital Blantyre, prompting a police investigation and a large reward for information leading to her rescue.
Malawian police said Nusrat Osman, 47, was kidnapped at around 12:30 local time on Friday by four men travelling in a grey Nissan Dualis.
Authorities have offered a reward worth more than $17,000 for credible information that could help locate Osman and lead to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible.
Osman, a mother of two young children, is reportedly employed by a local auditing firm.
Her husband told local media he had no information about her whereabouts or condition and said he was unaware of any dispute that could explain the abduction.
Police said the motive remained unclear and that the kidnappers had not contacted Osman’s family or the authorities with any demands.
The investigation is continuing as officers appeal to the public for information.
The UK Foreign Office has been approached for comment.
