CAR President Touadera meets Putin to deepen ties with Russia

Faustin-Archange Touadera, the president of the Central African Republic, has arrived in Moscow for official talks aimed at strengthening bilateral relations with Russia.

Moscow has cultivated close ties with the Central African Republic, deploying hundreds of military “instructors” to support the government in its fight against rebel factions.

During his three-day visit, President Touadera is scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the “further development of bilateral cooperation.”

Russia has been actively expanding its influence in Africa, offering security support to various countries and cultivating anti-Western sentiment.

The Central African Republic, a country grappling with years of civil war, has become a key partner for Russia. The Wagner Group, a Russian private military company, has played a significant role in supporting government forces.

The recent unveiling of a bronze monument glorifying Yevgeny Prigozhin, the late head of the Wagner Group, in Bangui further underscores the strong ties between the two countries.
