Burundi’s ruling CNDD-FDD party secured every seat in the June 5 parliamentary elections, the electoral commission announced Wednesday.
A result critics and observers claim was marred by irregularities.
Election commission chief Prosper Ntahorwamiye stated on live television that the CNDD-FDD garnered 96.51 percent of the national vote.
Since no other party reached the two percent constitutional threshold for National Assembly representation, all 100 seats were awarded to the CNDD-FDD.
