DRC’s president arrives in Moscow to strengthen Russian relations

Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguesso arrived in Moscow on Tuesday for a five-day visit.

He was greeted by a guard of honor at one of the capital’s airports, reported the Russian state news agency TASS.

During his visit, Nguesso will hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. These discussions are scheduled to last until Saturday. The visit underscores the growing relations between the two nations.

Nguesso’s visit follows Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s trip to the Central African nation earlier this month. Lavrov’s visit laid the groundwork for this high-level meeting.

The meetings aim to strengthen bilateral ties and explore potential collaborations. Both nations are expected to discuss various topics of mutual interest and cooperation.

This diplomatic engagement highlights the strategic importance of the Central African region to Russia and demonstrates Russia’s expanding influence in Africa.
