Egypt restructures the military-linked Future of Egypt entity

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi officially ratified a law to restructure the military-linked “Future of Egypt” economic entity on Monday.

The sprawling public body will transform into an overarching economic authority that reports directly to the president’s office.

This sweeping legislative change permits the organization to absorb state land and incorporate existing government-owned corporations.

The empowered authority will manage tax-exempt sustainable development zones while actively steering a variety of distinct national funds.

Historically focused on agricultural growth, the enterprise has commanded one of the world’s largest wheat import operations since 2024.

The organization recently seized control over major domestic lakes and acquired the largest stake in the Egyptian Commodities Exchange.

Its massive portfolio now extends into luxury housing development, major construction projects, renewable energy, and critical infant formula manufacturing.
