Egypt issued a travel advisory for its citizens on Wednesday, urging them to avoid trips to Lebanon due to ongoing Israeli military strikes.
“In light of the rapidly changing situation in Lebanon and the escalating military operations along the Israeli-Lebanese border, we strongly recommend that Egyptians refrain from traveling to Lebanon unless absolutely necessary,” the Foreign Ministry stated.
The ministry also advised those currently in Lebanon to exercise caution, steer clear of conflict zones, adhere to instructions from Lebanese authorities, and maintain communication with the Egyptian Embassy in Beirut.
EgyptAir announced on Tuesday that it has suspended flights from Cairo to Beirut until the situation stabilizes.
Since early Monday, Israel has conducted numerous airstrikes on Lebanon, resulting in nearly 610 fatalities and over 2,000 injuries, according to Lebanese health officials.
The Lebanese militant group Hezbollah and Israel have been engaged in cross-border conflict since the onset of Israel’s offensive against Gaza, which has claimed more than 41,400 lives, predominantly women and children, following a cross-border assault by the Palestinian group Hamas on October 7.
The international community has expressed concern regarding the strikes on Lebanon, fearing that they could escalate the Gaza conflict into a broader regional crisis.
