Explosion in Somali claims five lives, injures eight others

Five people were killed and eight others injured in a series of roadside explosions in Mogadishu on Saturday.

According to Abdullahi Sheikh Abdirahman, the district commissioner of Kahda, the explosions occurred where young people had gathered to take photos.

Witness Abdisamad Osman reported that the first blast left several people on the ground.

As rescuers arrived, a second explosion caused additional casualties.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks.

However, the Islamic extremist group al-Shabab, known for targeting government and civilian sites, is often suspected in such incidents.

The explosions occurred just weeks after a similar attack at a beach that killed over 30 people and wounded more than 60.

The recent violence highlights growing concerns about the frequency of such attacks in Mogadishu.
