Five civilians killed in Ethiopia following drone strike on ambulance

Reports from witnesses in Ethiopia’s Amhara region have revealed that a drone strike hitting an ambulance resulted in the deaths of five civilians.

The incident took place in Wogel Tena town, located in northeastern Amhara, leaving three others injured, including the head of a local hospital.

Despite occurring last week, confirmation of the attack was delayed until Wednesday due to communication restrictions imposed by local authorities.

Witnesses identified the victims as the ambulance driver, a pharmacist, and construction workers in close proximity to the strike.

Federal forces are reportedly employing drones to target local militias amidst ongoing escalating violence that erupted in April.

The United Nations recently expressed concern over drone strikes affecting civilian targets in Amhara, citing previous incidents where several individuals were killed in attacks on a school compound and a bus station.
